Comedian facing prison for insulting pope

AN ITALIAN comedian could be facing up to five years in prison after making a joke at the Pope’s expense.

Sabrina Guzzanti was addressing a Rome rally in July and was making gags about several top level officials, the government and then the Pope.

This spurred a reaction from Italian legal prosecutors and she is now facing prosecution for “offending the honour of the sacred and inviolable person" of Benedict XVI.
