Handcuffed man steals police car

A HANDCUFFED burglary suspect made his getaway from police by stealing their patrol car.

Mark Robert Nolan, 29, had been arrested in the Australian city of Brisbane in connection with a series of break-ins.

The arresting officers chained his hands in front of his body and then left him in their unmarked vehicle as they went to the back of the car to examine the contents of his bag.

No sooner were they out of sight than Mr Nolan wriggled into the front of the unmarked car and drove off – and although the car was later found, the handcuffed man was nowhere to be seen.

Queensland Police have vowed to launch a “thorough investigation”.
