Pupils at Sanderson High have put their musical talents to good use at the official opening of their new school in East Kilbride.
Invited guests, along with staff and pupils, were all in attendance as Councillor Jim Wardhaugh carried out the official duty of unveiling the plaque to mark the opening of the school.
Guests were welcomed into the hall to the sounds of a group of pupils playing the Chumble Drums. John McEnaney, head teacher of Sanderson High, welcomed guests to the new school before the school chaplain, Reverend Gordon Palmer, led pupils and guests in a prayer.
The Sanderson High Choir then performed a note perfect rendition of 'Sanderson High' followed by a DVD presentation of the move from the old school into the fantastic new building.
Kimberley McCandless then performed 'McCandless's Reel' and Julie Wedlock, the school's longest serving teacher, delivered the vote of thanks. Guests left the hall to the sounds of the school's samba band before being taken on a tour of the school which has a roll of 90 pupils.
John McEnaney said: "Everyone has settled into our new home and the children - the most important people here today - are very proud of their brand new school.
"The main difference between the old school and our new one is the prominence we're now given. Moving from the old house block, at the rear of the building, has improved our profile, not only within the campus, but with the local community.
"People now realise who we are and where we are. The set up now is much more preferable, the doors to the two schools are together and although we do remain two separate schools, it really is a joint campus."
The joint campus shared with Calderglen High School cost £35million and was constructed by one of the council's building partners Carillion as part of the council's £300m Secondary Schools Modernisation Programme - the largest programme of its kind in the UK.
