A programme packed full of fun for all the family is taking place in the run-up to the Christmas lights switch-on in Hamilton on Sunday 23 November.
This year Provost Russell Clearie will switch the lights on at 5pm on Sunday with a little help from Santa Claus.
But before that the fun starts at 1pm with host L107 DJ Scottie McClue lining up an afternoon of entertainment for all the family.
One of the shows sure to appeal to younger members of the audience is 'High School Holidays' - a fully choreographed show featuring all the big songs from Disney's High School Musicals 1 and 2. This is a fun interactive show that young people are sure to love.
The Elaine Wedlock School of Dance will also be performing on the day and whipping the crowd into a frenzy with a selection of their best-known tunes will be a Proclaimers tribute act, Proclaymores. Looking and sounding just like the real thing, the pair are a brilliant sing-a-long crowd pleaser.
Appealing to the disco divas will be Abba tribute act, Abba Cadabra. Featuring stunning music, dazzling costumes and lots of tongue-in-cheek humour, the act will help everyone relive the magic of supergroup Abba.
And mingling with the crowds and keeping everyone entertained with their cheeky banter and visually stunning act will be Big Rory and Ochi the Dog while eight-foot tall illuminated stilt walking fairies will be wandering amongst the crowds sprinkling snow with wishes and smiles as they go!
There will also be a versatile Victorian-style family entertainer, who walks on a giant six-foot ball, juggles, appears on stilts and as various characters, will also keep the crowd entertained.
Face painters, balloon modellers and airbrush tattoo artists will also be on hand. The face-painters will be using both traditional paints and new, state-of-the-art 'glow' paints) and the balloon-modellers will provide almost anything you can think of to the highest professional standards. For older children and adults, the airbrush tattoo artists use six colour American systems which are capable of producing spectacular and intricate designs.
And a Laser Light Show and Fire Act will add to the visual spectacular of the day as well.
Councillor Chris Thompson, the chair of the council's Enterprise Resources Committee, said: "I hope as many people as possible will come along and help us celebrate what has become a hugely successful and enjoyable local event.
"There is a real family atmosphere in the town during the switch-on celebrations and there is something for everyone to enjoy. The programme is jam-packed with fun entertainers and musicians and I am sure it will be a great success."
