Football quiz raises £1000 for cancer charity

A FUN football quiz night hosted by Avendale AFC was held in Strathaven Evangelical Church where £1000 was raised in aid of a children’s cancer appeal.

Around 60 people attended to support the CLIC Sargent ‘Kick for Children with Cancer’ campaign, and took part in a 10-round quiz on football.

The overall champions were team 10 captained by Euan Fraser.

At half time the teams were provided with a spread of cakes and goodies prepared by hostesses Agnes, Barbara, Gayle and Fiona.

A signed Rangers football strip was donated and auctioned. The winner of which was James Muir.

To add to the excitement a mini Euro 2008 championship competition was held where Paul Frullani, representing Italy, was the winner beating David Halley, representing Romania in the final by 4 goals to 2.

A great fun night was enjoyed by all and the CLIC Sargent appeal will now benefit from the £1000 raised on the night.

Thanks was given to everyone who supported the event.
