Strathaven groups receive community grants

SOUTH Lanarkshire Council’s East Kilbride Area Committee awarded £5555 in community grants to local community groups and organisations this month.

The money will help fund the groups for start-up costs, outings, entrance fees, equipment, transport and events.

Seven Strathaven area groups and organisations were awarded £1750; these were:

Strathaven Rainbow Social Club: £400 for specialist transport and entrance fees.

South Lanarkshire Older Walkers (SLOW), Strathaven: £250 for outing and entrance fees.

Gilmourton WRI, Drumclog: £250 for outing and entrance fees.

Chapelton Indoor Bowling Club: £200 for outings.

Bethany Group, Strathaven: £250 for outing and entrance fees.

Chapelton Silver Circle: £200 for an outing.

Sandford Scottish Women’s Rural Institute: £200 for outing.
