A LARKHALL man has been cleared of assaulting a hairdresser while she was working in a Strathaven salon.
James Campbell (36), of Cherrytree Place, had denied assaulting Jayne Jamieson at Capellos Hairdressers in Barn Street on December 5 last year.
It was alleged that Campbell pushed Ms Jamieson, seized hold of her, struck her on the head with his forehead, spat in her face and hit her on the face with a handbag.
Campbell also denied committing a breach of the peace at the salon on the same day by shouting, swearing and refusing to leave the premises.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Campbell’s trial took place but ater the first witness’s evidence was heard by Sheriff Joyce Powrie, the procurator fiscal decided not to proceed further. Sheriff Powrie then acquitted Campbell on both charges.
