Plea to keep village spick and span before judging

STONEHOUSE Brighter Village group are urging the community to keep the village tidy and litter-free in the lead-up to the Beautiful Scotland judging.

The judging is due to take place on August 12.

Beautiful Scotland is the largest environmental campaign in the country and rewards communities who are working to improve and enhance their local area.

As well as looking at horticultural issues such as seasonal and permanent planting, judges also take issues such as sustainability, public participation and waste-management into consideration.

The campaign has been running for over 40 years, and Stonehouse Brighter Village are hopeful that their efforts, and the efforts of the wider community, will be well rewarded.

The group would also like to extend a big thank you to stall-holders who participated in the craft fair which was held earlier this month.
