Flower power gains cash award

SOUTH Lanarkshire Council's East Kilbride Area Committee awarded £3445 in community grants to local community groups and organisations this month.

The money will help fund 11 groups from the East Kilbride area, four groups from the Stonehouse area and one group from the Strathaven area with start-up costs, outings, entrance fees, equipment, transport and special events.

The groups awarded included Strathaven in Bloom, who received the sum of £400 for equipment.
