Gala events

ORGANISERS of Stonehouse Gala have finalised the programme for the event.

Activities will be spread over a week starting on May 30.

It was decided to extend gala celebrations to a week to mark the 60th anniversary of the gala in Stonehouse.

On May 30 there’s an adults’ five-a-side tournament at Tileworks Park. Sunday, June 1, will see the Family Car Treasure Hunt which leaves from Masonic Hall, Green Street, at 1.30pm at a cost of £5 per car.

Also at the Masonic Hall is the Beetle Drive next day at 7.30pm. Cost is £1 with tea and coffee included.

A children’s disco is on June 3 at the Scout and Guide Hall in Lawrie Street: 6pm to 7.30pm for primaries 1-3 and 7.45pm to 9pm for P4-7. Tickets cost £1 and are available from the committee or Angie’s shop.

On Wednesday evening of that week, adults are invited to take part in a quiz night at Stonehouse Violet Club, Newfield Road. It starts at 7.30pm at a cost of £4 per team entry.

A cheese and wine evening is planned for June 5 in the Development Trust office in King Street from 7.30pm. Included in the £2 ticket price is a gala history talk. June 7 is gala day.
