Hi-tech X-ray view system on way to Lanarkshire hospitals

A NEW picture archive and communications system (PACS) will help cut waiting times when it is rolled out across Lanarkshire’s hospitals.

PACS will mean all hospitals in Scotland will use a single system allowing them to view X-ray medical images electronically.

And the change will help speed up patient care in Lanarkshire.

Judith Hope, general manager of women and diagnostic services, said: “The new application means for the first time we will be able to share images electronically, improving waiting times and speed up services for patients.”

Hairmyres and Stonehouse hospitals will go live with the new system on June 16.

In November, Wishaw General Hospital will also be linked to it.
