STONEHOUSE residents were this week urged to attend a farmers’ market which takes place at the village Cross on Saturday between 9am and 1pm.
As part of the Stonehouse Development Trust’s summer programme, the event is aimed at attracting visitors to the village to help benefit local businesses.
There is a wide selection of produce on offer including beef, lamb, poultry, ostrich, preserves, smoked fish and seafood, soups, confectionery and home baking.
Development officer Jeff Frew is a keen supporter of the event.
He said: “This encourages people into the village and promotes activity and a buzz in the village centre. This in turn could possibly lead to added business for local traders.
“It also shows visitors what the village is like and encourages them to make a return trip. There is good quality healthy produce on sale and a lot of it is locally produced. Shoppers can also get information and advice on how best to cook and learn about fresh produce and where it comes from.”
