RAVENSCRAIG Ltd, the joint venture spearheading the redevelopment of the former Lanarkshire steelworks site, has welcomed ScottishPower's £12m investment in new power infrastructure in the area.
ScottishPower has announced plans to upgrade underground power cables in the Wishaw area.
The cables run from the main grid substation at Gowkthrapple to the original Ravenscraig sub-station which once provided power supplies to the steelworks.
Jim Fitzsimons, project director for Ravenscraig Ltd, said: "ScottishPower's investment will ensure that we have the infrastructure to provide a consistent supply of energy to support the major developments planned for the site in the years ahead.
"Our team is already working closely with ScottishPower to plan the route into the Ravenscraig site.”
