Sparkling anniversary for retired health staff

AROUND 200 former employees of NHS Lanarkshire attended a special tea to commemorate the NHS's diamond anniversary.

The retired members' tea was organised by NHS Lanarkshire to thank former staff for their part in helping the NHS reach its 60th anniversary.

The event took place in the Hilton Hotel in Strathclyde Business Park last month, and many of those who attended had given 20, 30, 40 and more years service.

The event also gave the attendees the chance to catch up with former friends and work colleagues.

The retired NHS employees were welcomed by NHS Lanarkshire Chief Executive Tim Davison, board chair Ken Corsar and employee director Hugh Sweeney.

All three paid tribute to the retired staff, saying their past efforts had helped to shape today's NHS.
