Musicians tune up for Lanarkshire's Battle of Bands

NORTH Lanarkshire’s top musical talents are lining up as the countdown begins for this year’s Battle of the Bands competition.

The creative services section of North Lanarkshire Council's Learning and Leisure Services has launched this year's competition, and entry forms are available now by calling 0141 304 1956.

Competition heats will take place in Motherwell Concert Hall on three separate Friday evenings during the month of October on the 3rd, 17th and 24th from 7.30pm.

Six bands will be selected to take part in each heat and two bands from those heats will qualify for the grand final, which will be held in Motherwell Concert Hall on Friday, October 31.

The winners will receive six days recording at the newly-refurbished Beetroot Studios, Petersburn in Airdrie.

Second prize will be four days recording and third prize is two days recording, again at the Beetroot Studios.

Entry to the competition is only £3 per band, who must also supply a non-returnable demo tape or CD and a photograph of themselves.

The closing date is Friday, September 12, and all competitors must be over 16 years.
