School gave packed house a Fright Night to remember

STUDENTS from the Scottish School of Musical Theatre played to a packed house last weekend.

The show Fright Night was staged over three nights and featured students from Hamilton and Motherwell classes, ranging from three-years-old to the newly qualified HNC masters students, who are part of the Senior School.

The annual progress award was presented by former student Amy Park who has recently been awarded a choreography scholarship by the London School of Contemporary Dance, where she is in her final year.

Junior winner was Alicia Steeds and junior runner-up Jude MacAuley. Intermediate winner was Louise MacAuley, intermediate runner-up was Chiara Connor. Seniors winner was Alexandra Donald. Master winner was Grace Cunningham and masters runner-up was Katrina MacLeod. Classical Ballet winner was Cerys Spiers, and classical ballet runner-up Eilidh Mitchell. Boys winner was Keirnan Dunn and joint runners-up were Ross Mathieson and Stephen Kerr. Overall winner was John Aitken and overall runner-up Lucy Docherty.

New teachers for next term were introduced and include Carol Cooper, Gillian Annette and Azumi Ono, who will be part of the new Musical Theatre Programme being launched in Hamilton in August.

The school is running summer workshops in August:

Jazz Expo 2008 – make a Musical, from August 4-7.

Popstar Superstar – record a CD, and be in your own band, from August 11-14.
