GEMMA Grier from Cathedral Primary School in Motherwell and Martin Young from Mossend Primary were among the 10 lucky winners of a competition run at the last Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO) exhibition day.
The winning JRSOs each received a cycle helmet from the road safety team.
With road traffic accidents being the largest single cause of child death in Scotland, the aim of the JRSO scheme is to empower children to highlight road safety issues within their school and to help reduce the number of child deaths and casualties on our roads.
Working with their local road safety officers, primary schools in Scotland are encouraged to appoint two JRSOs, one from P6 and one from P7, to be road safety champions in their school.
There are now 97 schools in North Lanarkshire participating in the scheme and the remaining primary schools will be sent an invitation to sign up to the scheme before the end of this school term.
