Witnesses appeal after man is stabbed in Motherwell street

POLICE were this week appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Motherwell on Saturday night.

The incident took place at about 5.45pm on Keane Path, Muirhouse, when a 40-year-old man was stabbed.

The man was however taken to Wishaw General Hospital.

Meanwhile, a teenager had his jaw broken after a fight broke out in Riverbank Drive, Bellshill, last Friday.

Police say the incident took place at about 10.20pm.

Two 17-year-old boys, who were in the company of friends, say they were approached by another group of youths.

A bottle was thrown towards them by the other group which resulted in a disturbance.

As a result both youths were assaulted by being punched and kicked to the face.

One of the boys received a broken jaw and the other was slashed to the back of his head, leaving him with a 1cm laceration.

Both boys were taken to Monkland District Hospital and treated for their injuries.

The victim with the broken jaw will undergo surgery to correct his serious injury.

The suspects ran off towards the Motherwell area after the incident.
