AN inspection of child protection services in North Lanarkshire by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate for Education (HMIE) is now complete.
The main focus for inspectors was finding out how agencies work together to support children.
During the three weeks spent in North Lanarkshire the inspectors interviewed children, young people, families and professionals.
They also met with staff from a range of agencies in focus groups, reviewed documents and observed meetings.
Agencies in North Lanarkshire will require to develop a plan in response to the findings, which will focus on further improving services to children and young people.
Mary Fegan, Chair of the North Lanarkshire Child Protection Committee said: “Representatives from key agencies in North Lanarkshire make up the Child Protection Committee which is committed to prioritising and improving protection and support arrangements.
“I hope the inspection highlights the good work taking place in North Lanarkshire in supporting children and trust the findings are helpful in how services can improve.”
