POLICE were this week appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old bus driver was assaulted in Motherwell.
The incident took place at about 11.35am on Wednesday, February 27.
The driver of the First Bus had parked in a bus stop on Windmillhill Street.
He pulled back out onto the road when he noticed the driver of a black Renault Clio attempting to overtake him.
The bus driver pulled to the side and stopped, and the Clio driver did likewise.
The car driver left his car and approached the bus nearside, verbally abused the bus driver and attempted to punch him, before re-entering his car and driving off.
The suspect is described as tall, bald, and he wore a vest top.
Another man was in the Clio during the incident.
Anyone who has any further information should contact PC Brawley at Wishaw Police Office on (01698) 202600.
Meanwhile, officers in Motherwell have stepped up patrols aimed at discouraging youngsters from loitering on the streets.
Police have been working in conjunction with partner agencies including North Lanarkshire Community Learning and Development and Careers Scotland.
As a result of the patrols, numerous youths have been issued with information on youth provision in their area.
Police have also referred 20 youths to Careers Scotland in a bid to offer these young people a route into work.
Sergeant Russell Jakeway of Motherwell Police Office said: “Youth engagement is now a major part of policing. We are constantly striving to build links between our officers and local young people. This initiative has allowed the police to engage positively with the young people.”
