A LABOUR councillor this week welcomed further investment in play areas in the town.
Councillor Jackie Burns is glad that South Lanarkshire Council have replaced the dilapidated fencing at a play park in the Millheugh area.
He said: “I am delighted that, further to the council replacing the play equipment last year at Millheugh at a cost of £25000, they have now secured the area on all sides with new fencing.
“This will be a boost to parents with young children who have often complained about the gap in the fencing next to River Avon.
“The council are committed to investing in outdoor play areas and I will be working with officials to identify further investment.
“I expect the next project will be in Strutherhill in 2009”.
