A MOBILE art gallery will roll into Larkhall Academy on Monday with its latest exhibition ‘Re/trato’.

The Travelling Gallery, Scotland’s custom-built mobile art gallery in a bus, will show an international selection of artwork, with exhibits from as far away as Colombia and Australia.

The mobile bus will also be at the Academy next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

All of the artworks are either portraits or depict the human figure.

Pupils will be able to climb aboard the bus to see work by eight artists, including a hypnotic video of a skateboarder beside Bondi Beach by Shaun Gladwell, sculpture by Kenny Hunter, a video by Oscar Munoz that shows the artist painting a self portrait with water which evaporates as he paints, and distinctive bronze figures by Francis Upritchard.

The gallery’s visit to Larkhall Academy is part of a 15-week tour to schools and communities throughout Scotland, and has been supported by South Lanarkshire Council.
