Clyde Valley's first-ever Highland Gathering set for Crossford

THE Clyde Valley's first-ever Highland Gathering takes place in Crossford next month.

The showpiece event is being held on June 29 at the Valley International Park, former home and estate of the Graham family of Graham's Port fame.

A first-class line-up of heavy competitors are taking part, led by the present heavy events world champion and world caber tossing champion, Gregor Edmunds, from Carmunnock. He is 6ft 5ins tall and weighs in at 22 stone. He has also reached the final of TV's World's Strongest Man contest. There’s the dance spectacle of a full SOB Highland Dancing competition for all age groups and classes, organised by Anna Bain of Glenrothes.

There will also be a number of country pursuits, featuring a falconry and birds of prey display; clay pigeon shooting, archery and fly casting.
