Crossford and Hazelbank

CROSSFORD and Hazelbank WRI held their agm in the village hall on April 17.

President Elsie Frame welcomed everyone to the meeting. In her review of the year, Elsie made particular mention of Bettie Forrest, who died recently in an accident. She went on to thank Mollie Moore (who is standing down from the committee) and the other committee members for their hard work throughout the year.

Looking back over the programme, Elsie said there had been a good mix of excellent speakers and that the meetings had been well attended. She also reported that five new members had joined the Rural during the session.

Elsie then thanked Jean Turner of Crossford Inn and Joan Maynard, the hall-keeper, for their continued support and assistance.

Esma Orr tabled the audited accounts, which were approved.

Two new committee members were sought at the meeting. Anyone interested in joining the committee should contact Elsie Frame or Margaret Hill.

The committee for the coming year includes Elsie Frame, Margaret Hill, Betty Lambie, Betty Moore, Margaret Clark, Maureen Tucker, Esther Scott, Esma Orr and Edith Ryan.

Margaret Watt proposed a vote of thanks to the committee.

A group of Rural members visited the children’s hospice, Robin House at Balloch, on April 23. They enjoyed a conducted tour of the facility and also had an opportunity to ask questions concerning the assistance offered to children and their parents.
