COALBURN Miners’ Welfare Accordion and Fiddle Club held their last meeting of the session on April 17.

Players on closing night included Charlie Thomson (Coalburn), Danny Hanney and Jim Porter (Stonehouse), Agnes and Scott Hope, Jim Small and Willie Wilson (Lesmahagow), Tom Gold (Douglas), Matt and Margaret Ferguson (Glassford), Bob Berry (Larkhall), Fiona Park and George Walker (Carnwath), Gilbert Logan (Leadhills), Andrew Gibb, Tom Hope and George Shiels (Biggar), Willie McFarlane (Stoneyburn), Charlie Todd (Thankerton), Stuart Lochie (Armadale), Archie Marshall (Strathaven) and John Weeks (Glasgow). Guesting at this meeting were John Renton and his Scottish Dance Band — John on lead accordion, Ricky Franci on second box, Agnes Liddell on piano and Gus Millar on drums.

The new season begins on September 18 when the club’s special guests are Alan Small and his Early Learning Ceilidh Band.
