BIGGAR Gala Week starts on Sunday, June 8, with the Installation of Principals and Riding of the Marches. Gala Day takes place on June 14 and festivities conclude on June 15 with the family cycle run incorporating the retrieval of the flag from Bizzyberry.
Queen-elect Sophie Woodside has selected her court and practices start in the Municipal Hall on Tuesday, April 22, from 6pm till 7pm.
Other dates for the diary are: Sunday, May 4 — family prize bingo, Municipal Hall from 7pm till 9pm; Saturday, November 8 — ladies’ night, Municipal Hall from 7.30pm till midnight (entertainment by comedy vocalist Brenda Collins and Blue Sky Disco); Sunday, November 30 — family prize bingo, Municipal Hall from 7pm till 9pm; Saturday, December 13 — children’s Christmas party, Municipal Hall from 7pm till 9pm; Friday, December 26 — Boxing Night disco, Municipal Hall from 8.30pm till 1am.
The gala day committee are looking for volunteers to help at fund-raising events and during gala week. Anyone interested in joining should go along to the next meeting in the function room of the Fleming Arms on Tuesday, April 29, at 7pm.
