CARLUKE Primrose Orchestral Flutes will hold their annual concert in Kirkton Church on March 29. Doors will open at 7pm for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm. Entry is by donation and teas and coffees will be available.
The band are always on the lookout for new members. Anyone interested in joining can go along to one of the practice nights in the welfare hall, Sandy Road, on Sundays from 6pm till 9pm. No experience is necessary as tuition can be provided.
The Primrose are also available and experienced at providing bar facilities at a range of events.

CARLUKE Camera Club welcomed Robert Fulton from Paisley Colour Club as guest speaker on Friday.
One of Scotland’s top photographers, Robert is also a successful exhibitor and judge. He gained his MPAGB grading in 1997 and is also an EFIAP.
Robert’s main interest in photography is landscape and he spends many hours each autumn and winter in the Trossachs and Rannoch areas of Scotland.
Members were treated to image after image of beautiful landscapes. Many bore his personal signature of early light and mist over the water. The second half saw him present his Masters panel, of which he is rightly proud.
This was followed by a potpourri of first class images of natural history and more landscapes.
This was a show that members enjoyed to the full.
Vice president Lindsay Bryson proposed the vote of thanks.

The next club night is on Friday, March 28, when guest is Dave Symonds. Dave, a native of the Midlands, now lives in the north of England.
The hand-in for the annual competition is on April 4 for digital images and April 11 for prints and slides.
ANOTHER pleasant afternoon was spent at Rosemount complex last Wednesday when residents were joined by some visitors for their prize bingo session.
A warm welcome is extended to everyone to join Margaret and friends for bingo on March 26 at 1.45pm.

EASTER eggs will be gladly accepted at the Co-operative Travel Shop at 76 High Street. All eggs collected will go to the Children’s Hospice at Kinross.
STEWART Street forum members travelled to Ayr last Saturday to see a performance at the Gaiety Theatre followed by high tea on the way home.
The next forum is scheduled for April 8 at 1pm when all are welcome.
CRAWFORDDYKE Primary School Parent Council are donating a variety of Easter eggs to raffle this month instead of the 50-50 draw. Pupils can purchase a strip of tickets for £1 from the school office.
Mr Allan has been training pupils for the Clydesdale Cross Country event at Biggar on Wednesday, March 26.
The popular bingo evening will be held on Tuesday, April 22, in the Masonic Hall. Tickets cost £1 and are available from parents and the school office.
GOOD Friday services will be held at 3pm and 7pm at St Athanasius.
New members will be made welcome at choir practices on Sundays at 6.15pm.
KIRKTON Church held a Palm Sunday morning service. The Sheila Anderson puppet show was held on Sunday evening. The Easter morning service is at 8.30am at the Market Square. Breakfast will be available afterwards at Kirkstyle Baptist Church.
Kirkton Crossroads cafe committee thank everyone who contributed to the success of the church Spring fayre which has raised £6000 to date.
The Woman’s Guild held their agm this week. The meeting included David Brown with slides of his holiday in New Zealand.
COMMUNION lunch will be served in St Andrew’s Church on Wednesday, March 26, at noon. A family service will take place on Easter Sunday at 10am, with morning worship at 11am.

THE United Reform Church Women’s Union held the last soup and sweet day of the session on Saturday which raised £145.
CARLUKE Bowling Club’s Tour Party have a fund-raising race night in the club on Friday at 7.30pm for 8pm. All welcome.
On Saturday night Velvet Touch will provide music for dancing.
THE 4th Carluke Boys’ Brigade held a successful quiz night in Carluke Bowling Club last Thursday. Quiz master was Sandy Brownlie and the winning team was headed by Hector McKechnie. Thanks go to Carluke Bowling Club for the use of their facilities.
CARLUKE Trefoil Guild held their March meeting in the guide hall last Tuesday evening.
Vice-president Agnes Patrick welcomed members and guests for the evening, councillor Eileen Logan and her 5th Carluke Brownies.

CARLUKE Day Centre for the Elderly celebrated St Patrick’s Day on Friday with lunch and entertainment in the Masonic Hall. John Morgan played accordion at the event.

A GOOD Cook Book by Wendy Barrie, providing recipes from the Holy Land, is available at all church stalls. The cost is £3 and proceeds will help the Bible Society.
