POLICE were this week appealing for witnesses after a man sustained serious injuries in a brutal attack in his back garden.
The 50-year-old was seriously assaulted within the rear garden area of his home in Larkhall’s Hawick Crescent on Sunday, December 18, at 8pm.
Police said he was struck on his head and body by a blunt instrument.
The attacker then made off from the scene.
Then he jumped into a vehicle which sped off.
Emergency services were contacted and attended, and the victim was assessed at the scene and taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he was treated for head, arm and leg injuries before being released.
Detective Constable Thomas Kiernan, of Hamilton CID, has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
“This attack was a sustained and brutal assault which appears to have been unprovoked,” he added.
Anyone with information on the attack should contact DC Kiernan at Hamilton CID on 483300 or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, where calls are free and anonymity can be maintained.
