Christmas Festival
THE Home School Partnership Mums Group hosted a spectacular Community Christmas Festival last week in the Whitehill Neighbourhood Hall.
Everyone including mums, dads, grandparents, uncles, aunts, family and friends were invited to the Christmas party last Wednesday where there were activities to suit everyone.
Some of the games and activities included a brilliant marshmallow eating contest, won by Ann Loudon.
Santa also completed a tour of Whitehill around the streets and then onto his grotto in the centre. All the children saw Santa and got a chance to talk to him.
There was also a DJ spinning the discs with helpers, dancing, tombola, face-painting, temp tattoos, karaoke, stalls, refreshments and homebaking for sale. There were also raffles, and all proceeds were split between The British Heart Foundation and St Andrew’s Hospice.
The money is still being counted, but the amount raised for the two charities is expected to be in the region of £300.
One of the mums, Arlene Hunter said: “Everyone had a brilliant day and we would like to thank everyone who came along on the day and for those who have supported the event from the outset.”
A special thanks goes to the following individuals and businesses:
Tony Ali of Whitehill Stores donated £200 to be split, so £100 went to St Andrew’s Hospice, and the other £100 to the British Heart Foundation. Mr Ali also supplied all the sweets, crisps and juice for the whole event. Further thanks goes to Heathers Hair and Beauty, Sainsbury’s Hamilton, Watt Bros Hamilton, Dunne’s Stores Blantyre, Buchanan Butchers Burnbank, Dominoes Pizza Hamilton, Barr’s, Lightbody’s, Tunnock’s, Get Stuffed Whitehill, Ya Beaty Salon Whitehill, Real Radio, McDonald’s Hamilton, Neill Brittain, Michael Lennon, Community Links, and Santa Clause and his driver.
