BB Jason in court on sex charge

FORMER Big Brother contestant Jason Cowan appeared in court this week on a sex assault charge.

The 38-year-old, who lived in Hamilton for over 10 years, was arrested following an alleged incident at the luxury Drimsynie Estate in Lochgoilhead, Argyle, at the weekend.

Cowan, who finished runner-up in Big Brother 5, made a brief appearance at Dunoon Sheriff Court from custody on Monday morning.

It is understood he was arrested after a woman staying at the estate called police on Sunday morning.

A Crown Office spokeswoman said this week that Cowan had made no plea or declaration during his brief court appearance.

He was charged under section two of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 which involves “sexual assault by penetration.”

The case against him was continued for further examination and he was released on bail. A date for his next court appearance has not yet been set but will be confirmed later.

Cowan, who now lives in Coatbridge, earned short-term fame following his appearance on Big Brother and was often booked to make personal appearances at the Hamilton Palace nightclub, and other clubs across the country. He later took up work as a personal trainer and bodybuilder.

The former trainee air steward caused a stir back in 2004 when he entered the Big Brother house in just a thong and bow tie.

And he was watched by nine million viewers battle it out against Portuguese transsexual Nadia Almada for the £63,500 television prize.
