Donations still needed for annual Toy Appeal
WITH just over six weeks left to Christmas, the Advertiser is appealing for readers to keep the toys coming and give a needy child a day to remember this year.
Yes, our annual Christmas Toy Appeal is in full swing with gifts flooding in to our office and our drop-off point in Larkhall. Every year, our readers and local businesses kindly donate to help make our appeal a huge success – and this year is no different.
All we ask is that members of the public or any local firms, clubs, groups or organisations donate new or quality second-hand toys, books and games, gift vouchers or donations of cash to the cause.
Every item we receive will then be gift wrapped by the lovely people at the Larkhall and District Volunteer Group, and then distributed by both the volunteer group and the Hamilton Furniture Initiative to underprivileged children across the local area for them to experience a Christmas morning to remember.
Already we have received donations of dolls, cars, jigsaw puzzles, colouring books and crayons, cuddly toys, educational and sensory toys – but we still require more.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, is warmly welcomed – and will be warmly appreciated by the county’s needy youngsters.
You can hand in your donation to the Advertiser Office, Press Buildings, Campbell Street, Hamilton.
The office is open on weekdays between 9am and 5pm.
We also need wrapping paper and AAA and AA batteries for toys.
Those in the Larkhall area can hand toys in directly to the Larkhall and District Volunteer Group at their Raploch Street premises.
