Police appeal over ‘flasher’ incidents

POLICE are hunting two men who indecently exposed themselves to two women during separate incidents in Motherwell recently.

In the first incident a 20-year-old woman was left shaken after a man ‘flashed’ at her whilst she walked through an underpass near to Mason Street at 6.30pm on September 29.

The male who carried out the lewd act was described as 20 to 30-years-old, around 5ft 8in, with a slim build and dark-brown hair. He was wearing a stripey jumper and dark trousers.

Meanwhile, a week later, on October 6, a 30-year-old woman was the victim of another flasher.

The woman had just alighted from a bus on West Hamilton Street, near to the town centre in Motherwell, and made her way to the same underpass near to Mason Street when a pervy male exposed himself to her.

The incident again happened at around 6.30pm.

This time the man responsible was described as aged 30 to 35, between 6ft and 6ft 3in, of medium build and short, dark-brown hair. He was wearing a blue jumper and blue trousers.

A spokesman for Strathclyde police warned the public to be vigilant in light of the recent indecent exposure incidents in the town.

He said: “I would ask anybody who is within the Motherwell town centre to be vigilant and if they observe any suspicious activities particularly in the areas where underpasses are situated to call the police immediately.”
