AN eight-year-old schoolboy was struck by a car yesterday morning (Wednesday) on his way to school in Hamilton.
The accident happened at 8.30am on Union Street, near the bus stop, just past Peacock Cross junction.
The youngster, who was examined and given first aid by paramedics at the roadside. was then taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride for treatment and a full medical check-up by hospital staff.
A Strathclyde Police spokesman said: “After treatment at the scene of the accident the youngster was taken to hospital for a full medical check-up
“We are still investigating the accident and a full report will be prepared in due course.
“At the moment we are interviewing all parties involved in the accident and witnesses at the scene on Wednesday morning.”
Police have also appealed for other people who may have witnessed the accident to come forward with information.
