Man (19) robbed of mobile phone and cash at Hamilton Accies’ car park

DETECTIVES were this week hunting three thugs who robbed a 19-year-old man of cash and his mobile phone at Hamilton Accies’ car park.

The teenager was walking home through the the First Division club’s car park when his attackers pounced last Monday, August 29, at midnight.

One of the yobs threatened the victim before taking a quantity of cash and his mobile phone.

All three made off towards the tunnel at the car park which leads to the Burnbank area.

The teenager was uninjured but was left badly shaken by the incident.

The first thief was described as about 18 to 20 years old, about 5ft. 8ins. to 5ft. 10is. tall, of medium build with short brown hair with a design shaved into the right side.

He was wearing a Barcelona tracksuit.

The second st was described as about 20 and 6ft tall. He was wearing a dark hooded top. The other was also about 20 and the same height. He was wearing a red hooded top.

Detective sergeant Neil Mackay of Hamilton CID, who is hunting the robbers, appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“Thankfully, the victim was unhurt, however, he was left extremely shaken as a result of his ordeal,” said the officer.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or indeed anyone who saw three males, fitting the description of the suspects, in the area at the time the attack took place.”

In April the Advertiser reported how a gang of five youths threatened a man in a robbery which took place near a railway line in Hamilton.

The 56-year-old was walking alone at an underpass, near Dalziel Street, leading to Hamilton Accies’ New Douglas Park stadium, at 9.30pm when his attackers pounced.

They threatened him with weapons and demanded his personal belongings.

They made off with several items of jewellery, an iPod and a small amount of cash. The yobs were last seen sprinting towards the Wagon Works in Dalziel Street near to Burnbank Road.

The victim sustained a slight facial injury but did not require medical attention.
