AN award-winning community wind band are looking for new members.
Clyde Wind Ensemble, who have members from all over Lanarkshire, rehearse in Calderglen High School, East Kilbride on Thursday evenings from 6.30-8.30pm.
They are open to all age groups but do ask for a minimum playing standard of Grade 5, although an exam pass is not essential.
The band have recently been awarded a gold award at the Scottish and British National Concert Band Festivals (NCBF), which is the largest festival for wind bands and big bands in the UK.
Band secretary Adam Williamson said: “This is a great achievement for our first time participating in this festival.
“The band received some fantastic comments from the adjudicators and are looking forward to improving on this success next year. We are aiming to take part in these festivals again in 2011/2012, with our aim being to get an invitation to perform at London's Royal Academy of Music in the British NCBF.”
The band are in need of players who can use the piccolo, oboe, bassoon, tuba, euphonium, french horn and trumpet.
However, they would like to hear from anyone who is interested in playing, no matter what they play.
The band play a varied and challenging repertoire and their aim is to offer an opportunity for musicians in the Strathclyde area to play in an inclusive and friendly ensemble which aims to play at the highest possible standard.
