FEARS are growing for the safety of a Bellshill man who has been missing for over a week.
Graeme Ferry, of Hooper Place, has not been seen since the early hours of Saturday, April 2.
The 24-year-old left his home at around 10pm on Friday, April 1, and was last seen by friends leaving an address in the Bellshill area at around 2am the following morning.
It is believed he was heading to Coatbridge although he has not been in contact with anyone he knows since and failed to show up at his work on Monday, April 4.
Police say this is totally out of character for him and his family and friends are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety.
Graeme is described as 5’10” in height and of slim build with fair hair. When last seen he was wearing a white timberland jacket, blue jeans and white training shoes.
Police have been carrying out extensive enquiries in the local area in an effort to trace him with officers checking CCTV cameras and speaking to local residents. So far, all efforts to trace him have proved unsuccessful.
Inspector Stewart Hurry is appealing for anyone with any information about Graeme’s disappearance to come forward.
Speaking from Bellshill Police Office, he said: “A week has now passed since Graeme was last seen and understandably his family and friends are completely beside themselves with worry.
“Officers will be out in the local area circulating a picture of Graeme and speaking to local people in the hope that someone remembers seeing him and may have information which could help us establish his movements.”
He added: “I would appeal to anyone who may have seen him since Friday, April 1, or anyone who knows of his current whereabouts to get in touch with police as a matter of urgency.
“We need to know that he is safe and well.”
Anyone with any information on Graeme’s whereabouts is asked to contact Bellshill Police Office on 01698 202400.
