Polish man (29) appears in court after raid on alleged brothel
RESIDENTS at a block of flats in Motherwell were shocked last week after police raided an alleged brothel in the building.
Officers carried out the raid at flats, near to Shields Road in Motherwell, at approximately 10pm last Wednesday evening, February 16.
Seven police officers from Strathclyde Police’s Divisional Proactive Unit took part in the operation, which took place at an address in Whinny Burn Court, Muirhouse.
A brothel is alleged to have been operating under the noses of residents for months.
During the raid, a 29-year-old male was arrested at the scene, a police spokesman confirmed.
He was held in custody overnight prior to a court appearance the following day.
A Polish national has since appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court in connection with the raid.
Twenty-nine-year-old Gabrielle Grzybowski pleaded not guilty to keeping or managing, or acting or assisting in the management of, a brothel.
He is alleged to have committed this offence at 6 Whinnyburn Court, Muirhouse, last Wednesday, February 16.
Last Thursday, Sheriff Carole Cunninghame set a trial date of May 27, with an intermediate hearing on May 4.
Grzybowski’s address was given as Whinnyburn Court, but he was granted bail to an address in Rutherglen.
