Vicious attack carried out in underpass

A TEENAGER was left shaken after being assaulted by two men as he walked home on February 11.

The 15-year-old had been visiting a friend and decided to go home at around 11.30pm via the underpass outside the Dalziel Arms Pub on Brandon Parade, Motherwell.

At that time there were two men standing in the underpass. As the teenager passed, one of the suspects shouted but the complainer ignored the man and kept walking to Motherwell precinct, Brandon Parade South.

The suspects then began to chase the complainer and one of them, who was wearing a grey hooded top pulled the boy down onto the ground. Both suspects then began to kick the youth and when he managed to get to his feet they chased him to the Heritage Centre and then ran off. The victim eventually reached his home and contacted police.

Both suspects were aged between 20 and 25 with one wearing a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms and the other dressed in a black jacket and black jeans. Inquiries are continuing.

A THIEF made off with a DVD player, DVDs, a mirror, canvasses and a freeview box after breaking in to a property on Watson Street, Motherwell.

The crime was committed between 12pm on February 10 and 12pm February 12.

HUNDREDS of pounds worth of goods were stolen from a house on Hamilton Road, Motherwell, on February 9.

The thief forced open a back door and made off with a Bosch power drill worth £250, a Pro-battery drill worth £150, £100 cash, a quantity of gold jewellery, a Toshiba laptop and headphones. The crime was committed between 12.30pm and 4.20pm.

A SILVER steel children’s slide worth £2000 and owned by North Lanarkshire Council has been stolen from Cambusnethan Memorial Park, Wishaw.

Inquiries are ongoing and CCTV is being reviewed.
