The regular meeting of St Lawrence R/A 458 will be held on Monday, February 14, at 7.30pm prompt business minutes correspondence exemplification of the E/M degree and official visit by the PGRAC of Lanarkshire Upper Ward.

The chapter would like to thank South Lanarkshire council for their assistance towards the Christmas dinner.

Stonehouse Gala Group:

The Gala Group are holding a fundraising Prize Bingo on Tuesday, February 15, at 7.30pm in the Masonic Hall, Green Street, to raise funds for this year’s Gala Day.

Bowling Club: The Stonehouse Bowling Club held their annual general meeting last Tuesday, February 1, with over fifty members in attendance.

President Willie Miller opened the meeting and called for a minute’s silence for members who had passed away over the year.

Secretary Alistair Gibson read the minutes of the last a.g.m. which were approved. Mr Gibson then made his report of the years activities on the green.

The flooding problem had been solved and now and the work would have to be considered on the surrounding bankings which were in need of some serious work.

He thanked Jim Barrie, green convener, and Danny Hannay in particular for their work on the green and others who had made some contribution to solving the problem.

He then thanked the President, other conveners, and the previous secretary for their assistance over the year.

Treasurer Robert Campbell introduced the accountant who gave an outline of the key points in the balance sheet.

After a few questions the balance sheet was approved. Mr Campbell then outlined the work that had to be done in the coming year and the expense that would be involved and proposed an increase in fees of £5 per member, which was also approved.

Retiring President Willie Miller then introduced the new President for 2011 James MacGregor who thanked Mr Miller for the honour and introduced his vice-president for the year, Ken McMinn.

The meeting then elected the officials for the year. They are secretary Alistair Gibson; treasurer Robert Campbell; match secretary Ian McLeish, bar convener Alfie MacGregor and green convenor Jim Barrie.

The committee were re-elected.

President James MacGregor thanked everyone for their attendance and declared that the Opening Day would be Saturday, April 16.

It was also announced that for the Valentine’s Dance on Saturday, February 19, all the remaining tickets had now been sold out.
