Sword attack man jailed for 21 months

A 31-YEAR-OLD man who set about about another man with a sword in Fairhill has been jailed for almost two years.

James Wilson, of Arden Court in Fairhill, pleaded guilty to assaulting a Stephen Kane with the weapon in Mill Road in 2009.

He admitted striking him on the body with a sword or similar implement and struggling with him to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The incident happened on October 11, 2009.

However, the Crown accepted a not guilty plea from his co-accused - 33-year-old John Wilson, of Meikle Earnock Road.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff Ray Small sentenced James Wilson - who has no previous criminal record of assault - to 21 months’ imprisonment.
