ANYONE affected by lung cancer in Lanarkshire is invited to attend a support group.
First launched by NHS Lanarkshire in August 2009, the Lung Cancer Information and Support Group, which meets within Maggie’s Lanarkshire, Wishaw General Hospital, has proved a big success.
A new programme of monthly sessions has now been arranged and will begin with a launch session on Wednesday, February 9 from 2 to 4pm.
Kirsty Bridges, lung cancer nurse specialist at Wishaw General, said: “The support group sessions have proved very popular and we’re delighted to be able to launch a new programme of events this year.
“People with lung cancer and their families and carers can come along for a light refreshment and chat with people who may have similar experiences.
“With lung cancer professionals in attendance they can also get support and advice on a wide variety of lung cancer related issues.
“They can also access the excellent services and cancer focused support provided by Maggie’s.”
After the launch meeting of the new group on February 9 the sessions will then run on the second Wednesday of every month until September 14.
