Sword thugs threaten delivery man in Viewpark

A DELIVERY driver feared for his life after he was attacked by sword-wielding thugs for a booze carry out.

Police are hunting two men and a woman after the 47-year-old man was subjected to the horrifying attack in Viewpark’s Bute Terrace on Saturday night.

He was delivering for a firm who supply alcohol to people who telephone their orders.

The driver had made his way into the flats. A man there allowed him access via the controlled entry system.

However, the delivery man was then met by two men who both assaulted him.

Both were violent and were said to have threatened him with a sword before stealing the alcohol.

The victim managed to run for his life.

Police said he was lucky as the consequences could have been far more serious.

The first suspect was described as 20 to 25 years old and 6ft tall. He wore jogging trousers, a light-coloured jumper and a hat.

The other suspect was 18 to 34 years old and about 5ft 8ins tall. He wore a white hat with thin green stripes around the edge, a light-coloured top and bright tracksuit bottoms.

Police say a woman aged about 16 to 25 was present at the time. She was described 5ft 8ins tall and wearing a white puffer jacket with a fluffy hood and tracksuit bottoms.

A police spokesman said: “Bellshill Police were quick to the scene and made enquiries, although the two males and female had left the location of the incident.

“Anyone who witnessed the assault or can assist police should contact Bellshill Police Office on 01698 202400, or alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
