Friends mourn death of young Hamilton man

TRIBUTES poured into a social networking site this week following the sudden death of a young Hamilton man.

Police were called to a house in the town’s Creran Court at 12.20pm on Friday, January 21, where the body of Antony Thomson was found.

Known locally as Nan, the 21-year-old former Earnock High School pupil had worked for Lightbody’s of Hamilton.

It is understood that a post-mortem is due to be carried out to discover the exact cause of death but police say there are no suspicious circumstances.

Friends were left devastated by his death and quickly set up a memoriam page on social networking site Facebook over the weekend.

On the page it states: “God definitely does only take the best!

“Everyone who knew him knows how great he was – funny and so caring. He's going to be missed by so many people.”

A friend paid tribute to him this week, saying: “RIP Antony pal, you should still be here; just look at the affect you had on people. A great life gone from earth, but still lives up above.”

Another friend simply said: “RIP Nan you were a wee diamond.”

Others spoke of their last memories of Antony, whilst some friends told how they had only spoken to him last Thursday, the day before his death.

Another tribute to Antony read: “Little Earnock will not be the same without you. You may be gone but I will never forget you. Best friends forever.”

And one friend remarked: “The biggest smile on the ground is now the brightest star in the sky. It’s a heartbreak that will never heal.”

A police spokeswoman said this week: “We can confirm police were called to the sudden death of a 21-year-old at Creran Court in Hamilton on January 21.

“There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a post-mortem will be carried out.”

Antony’s family were too upset to speak to the Advertiser this week.
