Bellshill’s Premier Inn helps stranded motorists

STAFF at Bellshill’s Premier Inn were this week praised by motorists stuck in this week’s heavy snow.

Kirsten Thomson, of Rigside, was attempting to travel home from her work at the Virgin Media call centre, in Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill, on Monday, when she got stuck in the gridlock traffic.

It took Kirsten, who was travelling alone, eight hours to get to the Raith Interchange, when she decided she would try to see if she could stay the night at the Premier Inn.

However, when she arrived there were no rooms available but the staff told Kirsten and many others that they could stay in the restaurant.

Kirsten explained: “I was getting scared in my car. I had more than half a tank of petrol when I left work but had now been sitting in traffic for hours and was worried I would run out. I decided to turn in a space in the road and try my luck at the Premier Inn.

“David the manager at the Premier Inn, lived locally but stayed to help out and make sure everyone was safe, warm and had food and kept our spirits up.”
