Lanarkshire band The Clyde are Band of the Week

CONGRATULATIONS go to Hamilton/Motherwell band The Clyde who are our Band of the Week.

Formed just over a year ago, The Clyde have enjoyed success both locally and nationally with their fantastic songs, notably enjoying airtime on America’s Massachusetts Radio .

Our Thoughts: With the majority of songs by The Clyde, vocals are done in a Scottish accent which really suits the indie style of the band.

More infectious than the cold, this four-piece have recently signed with Glasgow label Delicate Records and will be releasing new material in the near future.

Our favourite song is definitely the immensely catchy ‘21st Century Autograph’. And the excellent guitar riffs and drums combined with the quirky vocals of ‘Disco Lights and Drunken Nights’ make it a certain dance-floor filler.

Members: Matt Adam - vocals & guitars, David Keatings - vocals & guitars, Allan Dewar - bass and Gav Stewart - drums

Background: We have all been mates for years and were playing in different bands. We got together and it all seemed to gel and work well so we headed into the studio at the start of 2010 and recorded a four-track EP ‘New Beginnings’ which is now up for download for free on our myspace.

Since then we have just been regularly gigging in central Scotland trying to establish a name for ourselves.

Best gig: Our best gig so far has probably been our single launch at Nice and Sleazys in Glasgow. The gig fell apart the day before when the promotion company folded and cancelled any gigs it had lined up. But rather than forget the gig we took it on ourselves to rebook the entire gig in the 24 hours before doors opened which included finding bands up for doing this last minute gig, calling in favours to get gear into town and mates to work on the door to do tickets and that sort of thing. By the time doors opened everything was pretty much sorted. The place was packed, everyone played a great show and it ended up being an awesome night!

Influences: Influences are completely varied throughout the band with each of us applying our own tastes into the music.
