A MAN was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a horror bottle attack outside a pub.
The 29-year-old was treated for eight stitches to a head wound after he was assaulted outside the Rowantree, Old Mill Road, Uddingston, on Sunday at 9.40pm.
The man had earlier entered the premises and bought himself a drink.
He went outside to have a cigarette and saw two men having a row. The injured man collapsed after being struck on the face with a beer bottle.
With blood pouring from a head wound, he managed to stagger along to Uddingston Police Office to report the incident.
He was taken by ambulance to Monklands Hospital and was treated for head injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the vicious attack.
Detective Constable Gordon McNair, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was in or around the public house at the time of the attack as they may have information that can assist this enquiry.”
Police have no description of the suspects and don’t know in what direction the suspects headed after the attack.
It’s not clear if the two men who were arguing had been in the pub earlier that night.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC McNair on 483300 or alternatively telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, where calls are free and anonymity can be maintained.
