Skinhead who robbed two 13-year-old boys is hunted by police

A SHAVEN-HEADED teenager who robbed two terrified 13-year-old boys of a mobile phone and £31 in cash after they stepped off a train in Hamilton is being hunted by police.

The victims were making their way to Hamilton Water Palace when the mugger pounced in Clydesdale Street, near Hamilton Railwaymen’s Club, on Monday at 2.20pm.

The yob approached the boys, from Blantyre, who came out of Hamilton West railway station and were walking along a path. The brute then threatened them with violence.

He pushed one of them against a wall and ordered him to hand over his £200 Samsung mobile phone and £11 in cash. No weapon was used during the mugging.

He then stole £20 from the other youngster before fleeing.

The boys then went back on the train at Hamilton West and make their way home to Blantyre and the alarm was raised.

The mugger is described as about 18 to 19 years old, about 6ft tall, slim and shaven headed.

A Hamilton Police spokeswoman appealed for witnesses to the robbery.

“This was a frightening experience for the two 13-year-old boys who were going about their own business,” she said.

“It happened in broad daylight and the area would have been busy at the time.

“I would urge anyone who recognises a description of the suspect, or may have seen him or the incident, to get in touch with police immediately.

“The boys didn’t get a description of what the suspect was wearing as they were too frightened to look closely at him.”
