MAJOR works on one of Lanarkshire’s busiest roundabouts have been completed two weeks early.
Motorists faced delays as essential maintenance started last month to prolong the life of two bridges connecting the Bellziehill roundabout, off the A725.
The project, which cost around £250,000, was expected to last six weeks. But despite heavy rain, the work took under four weeks, and the route was re-opened last Thursday, July 22.
The bridges on the roundabout have been waterproofed along with joint replacement, new kerbs, barrier works, landscaping and resurfacing works.
Colin Mackenzie, Amey’s unit manager said: “When we began the work at Bellziehill we were experiencing good weather and this, along with additional manpower has worked to the public’s advantage as we are able to reopen the roundabout ahead of schedule - despite the recent downpours.”
