Man (35) appearing in court in connection with Blantyre murder

A 35-YEAR-OLD man will appear today (Friday) at Hamilton Sheriff Court in connection with the death of a Blantyre woman.

Officers were called to a incident in Parkville Drive at 3.55am on Thursday, July 22.

The injured woman aged 60 was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital but died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the exact cause of the death.

Police are treating the death as murder and an incident room has been set up at Hamilton Police Office.

Detective Inspector David Tassie, who is leading the murder hunt, said: ""I would appeal to any witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information that may assist police enquiries to contact police as a matter of urgency."
