Lissa is winner in Hamilton's Best Mum competition

A LOVING Hamilton son said a special thank-you to his mum on Mother’s Day.

Nine-year-old Anderson Bell nominated mother Lissa for Hamilton’s Best Mum competition 2010.

And his entry, which warmly stated how he appreciated the love and care his mum gives him, greatly impressed the judges who made her the overall competition winner.

Mrs Bell lives in Montrose Crescent with Anderson his brothers Eughan (6) and Millan (7), and husband Ian.

She said this week she was delighted and Anderson, a pupil at St Mary’s Primary School, was overjoyed. Mrs Bell commented: “Anderson had been talking about the competition and told me he was going to try and win me prizes.

“I did say to him that a lot of children would be taking part and there’d be a bit of competition. However, I’m delighted. I wasn’t surprised the judges liked his entry. He’s a very sensitive boy and says things from the heart.”

Hamilton’s Best Mum was the idea of members of Hamilton Town Centre Marketing Group which is made up of town chain stores, independent retailers and Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber business support manager Gareth Walker said this week: “There were a lot of great entries in the competition.

“However, Anderson drew a lovely picture of his mum and said how supportive she was. He was glowing in his praise for his mum.

“It was the combination of Anderson’s artwork and his words that impressed the judges.”

Anderson was the winner in the six to 10 years age group. Other winners were: under-fives – Yasmine Wijetunga; 11 to 15 years – Chloe Lewis, St Elizabeth’’s Primary; 16-plus – Andrea Nelson. The winning artists also received an Easter egg and goodie bag.
